Bob Barker - Artist

Born in Yorkshire in 1954, Bob Barker was first introduced to painting after he received the gift of an oil painting set at the age of 12. He was captivated by the effects he could achieve with paint on canvas. Bob Barker received no formal training in art or painting for that matter, he has developed his skills and honed his techniques through experimenting with different syles and subjects. His preferred technique is using a brush and palette knife. It is the prominent artists, Tom Gower and Keith English, whom he met in Cornwall that influenced his belief that he could become a professional artist. Due to commitments Bob Barker kept painting as a hobby whilst running his own video and media production company. He spent over 20 years travelling with his company hosting workshops and teaching students the art of video making. Bob Barker's daughter in law took over the running oof the business leaving him to concentrate full time on being an artist. Bob Barker started exhibiting his work in 2000 both locally and nationally.
