Charles Willmott - Artist

Charles Willmott has gained a reputation as one of the UK's finest figurative realists. Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, his artist talent developed from an early age. He studied for a short time at the Birmingham College of Art, selling his work as a student, but he does think of himself as a self taught artist. Charles has been painting since the early 1960’s and during the 1980’s his inspiration came from the Orient and its people and culture. He held a one man show at the Mall Galleries exhibiting Sumo the Japanese national sport. Charles Willmott has also worked closely with the Royal Ballet and in 2000 this dedication to the stage awarded him a finalist place in the Garrick/Milne Prize. Charles exhibited in the UK, throughout Europe, Japan and the USA his highly sought after work is enthusiastically collected and commissioned by an international audience.
