Chris Parsons - Artist

Chris Parsons was born in 1969 and was encouraged to draw from a very young age. It was in 1989 that he studied a foundation arts course which enabled his to experiment with many different artistic disciplines. He was at this time particularly interested in calligraphy and typography. He enrolled on a graphic design course in 1990 which incorporated photography and illustration. Chris Parsons completed his studies in 1992 and went on to work in a variety of different jobs, none of which tested his artistic abilities. He gained commissions around this time to design the artwork for computer games, magazine articles and sign writing. He went on to start up his own business in St Nicholas market, Bristol in 1992. He worked on commissions at this time as well as displaying his landscape paintings. He felt he was in the wrong area for his paintings to sell so approached an art gallery, well established, located in the town centre. The gallery liked his work and bought his paintings as well as selling some to other art galleries in the UK. Chris Parsons work began to sell. He exhibited his work in 2000 alongside David Shepard, Keith Woodcock and Gerald Coulson at the Carrisbrooke Gallery in London. Chris Parsons is enjoying ongoing success with his landscape paintings.
