Don Breckon studied to become an art teacher at the Bath Academy of Art. He specialised in trains, trams and related subject matter. From an early age he had a fondness for train spotting and an great interest in the steam age. As the steam engine trains declined his interest shifted towards the history of railways and was particularly inspired when viewing an exhibition of Terence Cuneo''s work at the Clapham Museum of Transport. Don Breckon decided that he wanted to give up his teaching career and move onto painting full time. He relocated from his home in Reading and finally settled in Cornwall. He experimented over the years with a variety of different subjects but it was railways he finally decided to concentrate on. Don Breckon''s paintings sell very well ultimately bringing him success as an artist.
