Dorothy Sterling has a deep love for the Scottish landscape. Her landscape paintings portray her affections often with birds or sheep present. Dorothy Stirling feels that a human figure in her paintings would take away the feeling of loneliness and prefers to include a solitary animal or bird. A few of her paintings have been inspired by Ellen McArthurs single handed sail around the world.
