Graham McKean - Artist

Graham McKean was born in Scotland in 1962, after leaving school he began working as a silk-screen painter and illustrator. He then entered into the profession of graphic design and after 17 years in 1996 he decided to commit to oil painting full time. Graham McKean now works from a harbourside studio in Irvine in Ayrshire.Inspired by the happenings in his own life his figurative images portray everyday people, the addition of sentiment and humour create what he states to be the 'picture of life'. His work is held in presigious public and private collections across the world and is considered highly collectable, his paintings are also increasingly appearing at leading UK auction houses. Within his varied portfolio are commissions for oil paintings for the Scottish opera and a Glenfiddich Malt whisky label. Graham McKean also has been exhibiting his paintings for many years in Europe and the UK which has proved very successful.
