The inspiration behind the paintings of Michael Lawes are the effects of artificial light at night, how grey tarmac is transformed into a multitude of dazzling colours, how reflection in water seems so much more exciting and vibrant at night. The visual effects of reflections on railway carriages, shop windows and freshly rained on tarmac are all very interesting subjects to Michael all of which have become the principal themes within his work.
