Mike Jackson - Artist

Mike Jackson was born in Manchester in 1962 to a working class family. He attended school although left with few qualifications. He was encouraged to learn a trade to give him a footing for the future so trained to become a butcher. Mike Jackson had an extremely varied career path and entered onto the artistic path by becoming a self taught graphic designer. He gained access into the Commercial Art World where he remained for 12 years. Whilst working he continued to develop his illustration skills and experiment with different media until he felt confident to sell some of his work. Following this he spent many years practising his watercolour technique and felt confident that this was the path he would like to follow. He gained recognition and was a successful watercolour artist for many years until a close friend encouraged him to try our acrylics. Mike Jackson received no formal training in art and over the years has been driven by his artistic passion and continues to experiment in different media and learn by his mistakes.
