Toni Hargreaves - Artist

Toni Hargreaves attended the Blackpool and Fylde College of Art for five years. She first studied technical illustration then specialised in scientific illustration with an aim to working as a medical illustrator. After graduating she worked in Surry as an illustrator for a medical publisher. She decided to move to the north and embark on a career as a wildlife artist. She worked freelance for a while before being signed to an illustration agency based in London. In 1997 she met with some international wildlife artists whilst exhibiting work. She was then inspired to paint from her rough sketches or photographs she had kept for reference from her trips to Botswana and Kenya. She spent any years painting wildlife in a traditional style, she is currently experimenting in a more contemporary approach to her animals using box canvas.
