From very early on in life Paul Horton longed to be an artist. He studied at Bournville School of Art in painting and drawing. From then his career branched out into the printing industry. It was in 1997 when Paul Horton became a professional artist. He is inspired by the strong composition and colours seen in the works of artists such as Chang, De Alembic and Degas. In the summer of 1998 Paul Horton held a one man exhibition entitled 'All in a life's work' representing his journey in art. His work is described as quirky, reflective of everyday life, rich in symbolism and often humorous. Paul Horton, described as a modern day Lowry and recognised for his contemporary work as being one of the leading pastel artists.
